I'm Emil, an Interaction designer and Software engineer. I am currently studying torwards a masters degree in Interaction design at the university of Umeå, Sweden. I spend my free time hacking on small projects, some of which you will find bellow. I love open source and most of my projects are making libraries that will hopefully help developers make better apps. I have been developing for android since 2010 but also have experience in a multitude of other areas such as iOS, web and ruby on rails development.
StickyListHeaders is my first open source library, it makes it easy to make section headers in android that stick to the top of the list and get pushed out by new headers. This behaviour is default in iOS but there is no easy or intuitive way to achieve this affect in android. A year after i open sourced the code the project has gained a lot of attention and has over 500 stars on github. Yout can read more about the project on it's website emilsjolander.github.io/StickyListHeaders.
FlipView is a open source library for create a flipboard-like experience for android. FlipView make it very easy to implement page turning between views. I recently open sourced the code and while it quickly gained attention from those that follow my work on github it is probably not going to get the same attention as StickyListHeaders because if it's more limited use case. It is however a great resource to look at when implementing you own more complex custom view. Check it out at github.com/emilsjolander/android-FlipView
CircularAlarm is one of the android apps that i have published in the play store (Sadly, my short attention span leaves most of my apps unfinished ^^). It's a alarm clock app inspired by the alarm app that came with Nokia's n9. I loved meego harmattan and wanted to create a alarm app with similar interaction. I first developed CircularTimer before i shifted focus to this app. You can download it from google play for free.
Goroutes is a micro framework for creating RESTful go servers. I recently started using go and i love it! So i made this project to learn and because i could not find any other framework that fit my needs. Goroutes is take a lot of inspiration from how rails does routing which makes it very easy to get started with for someone comming from a rails background. Check it out at emilsjolander.github.io/goroutes
Feel free to email/tweet me if you want to discuss any of my work, if it's a bug or feature requests for one of my open source projects you should post an issue in github. Think i would be the perfect fit for your team? Email me and we can talk about it!
